"I’m Raymond Lewis. I’m sitting here just enjoying the day in Galveston. It’s (weather) cool for us … in the 50s, so I’m out just kind of tooling around on my motorcycle. It’s a great day. I love riding on a cool day much better than a hot day. I’ve been in Galveston now about 40-something years. I try to stay as involved as I can in trying to make my city a little better every day. I try to do my part as often as I can. All of us can’t do everything, but every one of us can do something. I’m watching Galveston change. There are some things I’m sure that people don’t like, but there a lot of things that people do like, and that I like. I like the smallness of it (island), the fact that on any given weekend in the summer, we can go from 50,000 people to 200,000 folks. We’ve got neat restaurants, we’ve got a lot of good music, we’ve got neat people. This is kind of cliché-ish but Galveston is a little jewel that many people really don’t know about. And if you’re not careful you’ll come to Galveston and you’ll make a turn and head out to the Seawall, and when you get ready to leave you’ll leave the Seawall and go back home without seeing all the things that really do go on in Galveston, like what I’m doing right now – just sitting on The Strand. Just had a great little casual meal at a nice restaurant. There’s pleasant people all around. It’s nice to just sit here and watch folks come in. There’s always something going on in Galveston. This is November and the best time of the year for me. The weather gets cooler and tourism drops off a little bit, and we only have people who are really coming down to Galveston on purpose. So if you are not doing anything, or even if are doing something, try to come down to Galveston. Come down, stop and sit along the street and just talk to strangers. You’ll enjoy it."
